Mounted Bearings

Mounted bearings are generally composed of bearings and housings, which are mainly used to support the rotating shaft and reduce friction loss to ensure the equipment's stable operation. Generally, mounted bearings have the characteristics of easy installation, stable structure, simple maintenance, and so on. Bearing housing is usually made of cast iron, cast steel, or engineering plastics, with high wear resistance and impact resistance, according to the use of the environment to choose the appropriate materials. Common types of bearing housings include vertical housings, square housings, diamond-shaped housings, and suspension housings, etc. to meet different installation requirements. Some mounted bearing models also have the function of centering, which can compensate for the slight centering deviation between the shaft and the housing body and reduce the installation accuracy requirements.

LNB Bearings offers a full range of high-quality, competitively priced mounted bearings and can be able to provide custom options to meet specific customer demands.

1. What is mounted bearing?

Mounted bearing is a mechanical component consisting of a rolling bearing with a special mounting to support a rotating shaft and withstand radial or axial loads. The underlying design philosophy of mounted bearings is the combination of bearings, seals, lubrication systems, and housings into a single unit so that mounting of equipment is simplified with greater stability and equipment operation reliability. The outer ring of the mounted bearing is spherical, which has some automatic adjusting capability to reduce the stress concentration caused by mounting errors. Mounted bearings are also normally equipped with a sealing device, actually preventing dust and impurities from entering and improving service life.

2. Types Of Mounted Bearings

(1)Pillow Block Bearings
Pillow block bearings have a flat base with two mounting holes on the bottom for easy fixing to a frame or pedestal. The top mounted bearings, suitable for a variety of vertical or horizontal shaft support applications, can withstand radial and some axial loads. The bearing outer ring is designed to be spherical and self-adjusting to accommodate slight mounting errors. Common models include UCP series, UC series, UEL series, SBP series, etc.

(2)Tapped Base Pillow Block Bearings
Tapped base pillow block bearings have threaded mounting holes (not through holes) on the bottom of the housing, which can be bolted directly to the frame or equipment without additional nuts, making installation easier. Tapped base pillow block bearings have a compact structure and are suitable for space-constrained installation scenarios. Common models include UCPA series, UCTB series, BSHE series, etc.

(3)2-Bolt Flange Bearings
2-bolt flange bearings have diamond-shaped housing with two symmetrically located bolt holes in the flange, small size, flexible mounting direction (horizontal/vertical), and suitable for space-constricted situations with medium to slight loads. Common models include UCFL series, UCFT series, BFT series, etc.

(4)3-Bolt Flange Bearings
3-bolt flange bearings have a three-point mounting design, and three bolt holes are distributed by a triangular flange. 3-bolt flange bearings have higher mounting stability than 2-bolt flange bearings and can be applied to medium load and vibration situations. The bearings can be self-aligning to relieve the stress caused by mounting errors. Common models are UCFB series, UCFK series, etc.

(5)4-Bolt Flange Bearings
4-bolt flange bearings have square or round bearing houses, and bolt holes at the four corners of the flange, which provide strong tilting resistance, greater stability, high load carrying performance, reduced vibration and displacement, and are suitable for heavy loads or shock working conditions. Common models include UCF series, UCLF series, etc.

(6)Piloted Flange Cartridge Bearings
Piloted flange cartridge bearings adopt round bearing housings with precision flange pilots, which accurately match the equipment holes, helping to center and position and reduce installation errors. Piloted flange cartridge bearings are suitable for high-speed, high-precision applications, and can reduce bearing deflection during operation. Common models include UCFC series, BEM series, etc.

(7)Hanger Bearings
Hanger bearings have lug holes on both sides of the bearing housing and are suspended from the support by pins or bolts to reduce oscillation and vibration. Hanger bearings allow for a certain angle of oscillation or displacement compensation and are mainly used in long shaft support applications such as screw conveyors. Common models include the UCECH series and UCHA series.

(8)Take-Up Bearings
Take-up bearings are designed with an adjustable slide or screw structure. Take-up bearings have a sliding adjustment function to adjust the bearing position, they are suitable for continuous conveyor systems such as belt/chain drives, reducing bearing wear caused by tension changes. Common models include the UCT series, UCST series, etc.

3. Mounted Bearings Characteristics

(1)Structural diversity: Mounted bearings meet diversified needs through different housing structures. Such as vertical housing, square housing, diamond-shaped housing, hanger housing, take-up housing and so on.

(2)Structural integration, easy to install: Bearings and housings have been pre-assembled to reduce the complexity of on-site installation, without additional alignment adjustments.

(3)Flexibility of installation: Different housing types of mounted bearings support a variety of installation methods. Concealed-hole housings are fixed by bolts in the bottom concealed holes, which are suitable for the special needs of bottom mounting; eccentric bushings are fixed by locking the bearings with eccentric bushings; hanger housings are installed by hanging, which saves space, and so on.

(4)Alignment function, compensation for mounting deviation: The outer ring of the mounted bearing is designed as a spherical surface, which matches with the spherical surface of the inner cavity of the bearing housing, and it can automatically adjust the angle to compensate for the error caused by misalignment of the installation or deformation of the shaft.
